SETZER DESIGN GROUP'S NEWEST SUPERYACHTS SAIL ONTO THE PAGES OF INTERNATIONAL JOURNALS

When renowned superyacht architect Ward Setzer of Setzer Design Group releases new designs from his Cary, North Carolina studio, the yachting industry sits up and takes notice. This month, the first of Setzer's newest futuristic vessels in his Vision Line series are featured in four international journals that are read by the most discerning, affluent buyers in the multi-billion dollar industry of luxury yachting.

Boat International USA, Boat International UK and SuperYacht World magazines devote sizable spreads to Brazen Sea -- a 70-meter, plumb bow mega-yacht design and the flagship of Setzer's new Vision Line series -- and his ‘Fittipaldi S 60’ series he has designed for Fittipaldi Yachts in Brazil. Yacht Premiere, a quarterly journal from the elite Geniva-Loci publishing company in Italy, devotes 10 pages to an exploration of the Fittipaldi S series.

Of Brazen Sea, SuperYacht World editor Hugo Andreae writes: ‘The name for this new megayacht concept says it all: Brazen Sea is a bold statement of intent from leading US naval architects Setzer Design.’ He also notes that the plumb, or ‘reverse-shape bow…is rapidly gaining currency as the hull shape of choice for the next generation of megayachts.’

Boat International calls Setzer's Vision Line ‘refined and redefined’ and ‘groundbreaking.’ The magazine's coverage includes an in-depth interview with the designer.

Yacht Premiere credits the success of the Fittipaldi S series to Setzer's pedigree: ‘Thanks to Ward Setzer's highly developed design sensitivity, the new Fittipaldi S series manages to combine the sophisticated and innovative aspects of modern-age motor superyachts with a pure vision of future progress in the luxury yachting sector…. >From the outline of the superstructure to the cut of the hull, expertly assembled in a harmoniously balanced play of shape and form, the result is a balanced whole whose lines testify to the care, skill, and precision that the designer has put into the creation of this fascinating craft.’

Brazen Sea and the Fitipaldi series were also featured this spring on Superyacht Times.com, an online magazine founded and edited by Dutch yachting aficionado Merijn de Waard.

Ward Setzer founded Setzer Design Group in 1991. Before that, he served as staff designer for the late J.B. Hargrave and, later, manager of Hatteras Yachts Custom Division. The studio's custom and production vessels have received numerous awards, including three Super Yacht Society awards, and have been featured in many industry magazines and journals over the firm's history.
